Tongkol Anthurium Supernova dihargai Rp. 2 M
Tanaman hias ini memiliki ketinggian 2 meter, panjang daunnya mencapai 120-130cm dan lebar 90 cm. Susunan daun yang bagus, kompak, dan melambai, kian memperindah penampilannya. Tanaman ini adalah Anthurium Supernova yang tongkolnya saja dihargai Rp. 2 Milliar.

Ketertarikan terhadap anthurium meningkat di pasar Tanah Air. Harganya pun menjulang tinggi menyamai harga rumah penyanyi dangdut ternama, Inul Daratista, di perumahan Pondok Indah Jakarta Selatan, yang mencapai Rp. 2 Milliar.

Fenomena ini menjadi peluang menarik bagi industri tanaman hias, mulai dari penghobi, kolektor, dan tentunya penjual. Dahulu anthurium merupakan tanaman yang tumbuh di hutan-hutan tropis yang teduh. Namun karena kemolekan daunnya, si raja daun inipun beralih jadi hiasan yang indah di rumah. Harga anthurium yang menjulang tinggi membuat banyak orang memburu tanaman daun ini. Dengan hanya memiliki indukan yang akan dijual dalam bentuk biji maupun bibit, pebisnis tanaman hias dipastikan bisa menjual koleksi langkanya dengan harga tinggi.

Makin hebat indukan yang Anda miliki, maka dipastikan harga jual anakan akan jauh lebih mahal, seperti Yoe Kok Siong dari Kaliurang Garden Centre Jogjakarta, yang memiliki indukan supernova berusia 15 tahun ini. Indukan yang khusus didatangkan dari Amerika Latin ini memang diharapkan bisa memberikan turunan berkualitas untuk penghobi anthurium.

Yo, sapaan akrab Yoe Kok Siong, mengatakan saat ini memang supernova merupakan jenis anthurium termahal yang pernah ia miliki, karena jenis ini termasuk jarang dan langka ditemukan di Tanah Air. Untuk memilikinya saja, ia harus mendatangkannya dari dataran Eropa.

Supernova miliknya itu baru dalam tahap pembuahan dan belum memiliki turunan sejak datang pada satu tahun yang lalu. Memang dirinnya fokus untuk program penyesuaian iklim dulu sebelum dilakukan penyerbukan untuk bibit, sebab bila dipaksakan bisa saia keluar biji, namun kualitasnya bisa saja - tidak bagus.

Beda bila sudah tumbuh dengan baik. otomatis biji yang dihasilkan juga berkualitas, imbuh Yo.

Supernova milik Yo memang tumbuh sehat. Itu dilihat dari kondisi daun yang tumbuh segar, serta warna hijau yang cerah. Tinggi tanaman sendiri cukup mengagumkan. ia bisa tumbuh lebih dari 2 meter. Selain itu. lebar daun bisa mencapai 90 cm, dengan tulang daun yang sangat tegas menonjol.

Batang daunnya sendiri mempunyai ukuran yang besar, sehingga secara keseluruhan terlihat gagah.

Wajar bila tanaman ini konon menjadi kegemaran para raja, karena menunjukkan kesan jantan dan gagah. Supernova sendiri saat ini menjadi satu jenis jenmanii yang sedang di-'uber-uber' kolektor dan juga pebisnis, dengan harapan bisa menjualnya kembali. Apalagi jenis ini masih sangat langka di pasaran dan tentunya akan jadi koleks ekslusif apabila bisa memilikinya.

Menurut Yo, demam supernova seperti saat ini sempat dialami juga oleh jenmani cobra yang sekarang pun masih mempunyai nilai cukup tinggi. Namun sebagai ilustrasi, ternyata harga jual supernova bisa mencapai empat kali lipat dari harga cobra.

Meski biji supernova miliknya baru bisa dipasarkan tiga bulan ke depan, namun dari sekarang diakui sudah ada peminat yang memesannya. Harga jual yang diberikan untuk setiap biji pada tongkol supernova tak tanggung-tanggung, yaitu Rp 1 juta. Harga yang diberikan tentu cukup mengejutkan, namun di tangan kolektor, harga seperti itu bukan lagi jadi masalah. Harga per-biji Rp 1 juta itu, wajar bila ada salah seorang kolektor yang menawar satu tongkol supernova Rp 100 juta, Yo tidak memberikannya. Pasalnya, dari satu tongkol bisa menghasilkan 2000-3000 biji. Jadi, rupiah yang dihasilkan jelas lebih banyak bila menjual secara eceran. Bahkan kalau dikalkulasi bisa mencapai Rp 2 M per-tongkolnya.

Untuk Jenis jenmanii, terutama supernova bisa mengeluarkan tongkol untuk ber-reproduksi rata-rata usia yang dimiliki antara 7-8 tahun. Jadi untuk melakukan investasi, supernova cukup lama, sehingga akan lebih mudah untuk mendatangkan indukan dari luar negeri. Namun biaya yang dikeluarkan dipastikan cukup besar dan membutuhkan kejelian untuk melihat kualitas tanaman.

Masuk dalam dunia tanaman hias sejak 10 tahun lalu, membuat Yo cukup paham pergeseran tren tanaman hias, seperti mendatangkan supernova satu tahun yang lalu ini. Namun bagi penghobi yang ingin mendapatkan bibit dari supernova, Yoe Kok Siong harus menunggu tiga bulan lagi, sebab saat ini tongkol sedang dalam pertumbuhan biji. (wo2k)

Teman saya baru baru ini terkena musibah,mobilnya yang dia parkir di sekitar blok M di curi dengan cara yang benar2 tidak diduga. Dia cerita sekitar jam 18.30 dia keluar dari pasar raya kemudian dia berjalan kearah luar ( karena mobilnya diparkir diluar area). Begitu dia sudah sampai di mobilnya dan kemudian membuka pintu mobil,tiba-tiba ada 2 orang sales promotion ( 1 wanita + 1 pria) yang menawarkan minyak wangi yang disemprotkan pada selembar tissue/kertas dan kemudian menawarkan kpd temen saya tersebut. Tanpa curiga kemudian temen saya mencium aroma minyak wangi tersebut dan kemudian dia merasa pusing dan mengantuk yang amat sangat...... Begitu dia bangun (sekitar jam 22.00) ternyata mobilnya sudah tidak ada ditempat sedangkan dia didudukkan di trotoar sekitar jalan tersebut maka hati-hati karena siapa tahu hal tersebut dapat menimpa anda atau orang orang terdekat disekitar anda.

Gw juga pernah ngalamin kejadian mirip di atas…asli pengalaman pribadi neh. Pulang kantor sekitar jam 20.30 saya naik no.75 jurusan Blok M – Pasar Minggu. Saya duduk sendiri di belakang seorang pria pendek, sedikit kucel yang juga duduk sendiri. Usia sekitar 25 – 30 thn.

Ngga berapa lama, saya mulai mencium bau aneh agak2 kaya parfum. Tadinya saya pikir bau berasal dari cologne anak-anak di tas saya yang kebetulan baru saya beli. Tapi lama-lama kok saya jadi sering menguap lalu tambah mengantuk. Saya mulai curiga dan langsung waspada sama pria di depan saya.

Setelah saya perhatikan ternyata dia suka mengesek-gesek rambut belakangnya which is di depan saya dan diam-diam melirik terus ke belakang. Mungkin nge-check apakah mangsanya sudah berhasil ditaklukkan belum. Saya tahan ngantuk sekuat mungkin dan berniat menantang dia. Saya pelototin pria itu terus biar dia tahu bahwa saya udah nyadar gerak-geriknya.

Ngga berapa lama badannya berputar 180' dan menghadap saya, dia kelihatan kesal sekali. Dia berbalik lagi dan mulai menggosok-gosok lengan dalamnya dengan cepat. Saat itu juga saya mulai mencium bau yang lebih menyengat lagi sampai saya pusing banget dan rasanya mau pingsan. Akhirnya akal sehat saya memutuskan untuk segera turun walau belum sampai tujuan dan melanjutkan dengan ojek.

Saya berjalan oleng dan badan ini rasanya lemas sekali, ngomong ke tukang ojek aja ngga jelas kaya orang mabok. Saya ngga tahu yang terjadi kalau tadi saya ngga waspada dan nekat diam di metro mini itu 5 menit lagi. Sebelum saya turun, saya juga sempat memperhatikan dia mulai melirik-lirik mangsa baru, seorang wanita kantor berbaju rapi.

So ladies yang suka pulang malem ati-ati kalau mulai mencium bau-bauan yang aneh mending turun deh. Rugi di ongkos ngga apa-apa daripada rugi lebih banyak lagi. Intinya jangan pernah ngelamun di kendaraan umum (taksi / angkot) dan keramaian. Daaan tetap waspada.Carefull gals …

Bunga Anthurium
Para pecinta tanaman hias pasti mengenal bunga yg disebut Anthurium. Jenis bunga ini memiliki harga yg cukup mahal karena mempunyai beberapa kelebihan dibanding bunga lainnya, diantaranya memiliki daun yang indah dan diyakini mempunyai energi untuk menetralisasi udara yang ada disekitarnya.

Anthurium termasuk tanaman dari keluarga Araceae. Tanaman berdaun indah ini masih berkerabat dengan sejumlah tanaman hias populer semacam aglaonema, philodendron, keladi hias, dan alokasia. Dalam keluarga araceae,anthurium adalah genus dengan jumlah jenis terbanyak. Diperkirakan ada sekitar 1000 jenis anggota marga anthurium.

Tanaman ini termasuk jenis tanaman evergreen atau tidak mengenal masa dormansi. Dialam, biasanya tanaman ini hidup secara epifit dengan menempel di batang pohon. Dapat juga hidup secara terestrial di dasar hutan.

Daya tarik utama dari anthurium adalah bentuk daunnya yang indah, unik, dan bervariasi. Daun umumnya berwarna hijau tua dengan urat dan tulang daun besar dan menonjol. Sehingga membuat sosok tanaman ini tampak kekar namun tetap memancarkan keanggunan tatkala dewasa. Tidak heran bila tanaman ini memiliki kesan mewah dan eksklusif. ASEAN Foundation Scholarships (Postgraduate Studies)

The ASEAN Foundation (AF) and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) have reached an agreement to develop quality human resources in the member countries of ASEAN through the offering of the AF-AIT scholarships.

The ASEAN Foundation, an initiative of the leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established on December 15, 1997 to contribute to the prosperity and a sustainable future for the peoples of all ASEAN countries that now comprise Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and VietNam. He was charged with promoting a greater awareness of the ASEAN and greater interaction between people and their increased participation in the activities of ASEAN as well as to undertake development cooperation activities that promote the ‘Mutual, address equitable economic development and reduce poverty.

The scholarship programme is part of the ASEAN Foundation Scholarships for postgraduate studies and funded by the Japan-ASEAN Solidarity Fund. The Asian Institute of Technology, on the other hand, is an institute post-1959, is a pioneer of the `Asia institution created to help meet the Irkutsk Region, growing needs for advanced training in engineering, science, technology and management, research and capacity building. AIT `s mission is to develop highly skilled and committed professionals who will play a leading role in the sustainable development of the region and its integration into the global economy.

AIT is based in Thailand and has affiliated centres in other parts of the world. Ten (10) graduate scholarships are available for ASEAN nationals who wish to pursue a master’s degree in AIT. The scholarship covers tuition and other academic expenses, and living allowances for a program of 2 years.

Four (4) grants will be awarded slots under the project “Capacity Building for Women, Poverty and the analysis of mobility development of road transport in the Greater Mekong.”
The six (6) scholarships will be awarded for the different fields of study identified by the ASEAN Foundation as described below.


To be eligible, candidates must:

1. Be a true national ASEAN
2. Keep businesses (normally from a four-year program) or its equivalent in an appropriate field
3. Have above average undergraduate classes (minimum 2.75 CGPA)
4. Fulfil other requirements specified by the school, you apply to
5. AIT is an international institute whose English is the only language of instruction

Admission to the AIT requires proof of proficiency in the English language that can be met in one of the following areas: Presentation of an official test from any customer of the English standardized tests: TOEFL, IELTS , CU-TEP (Thailand), ARC (Lao PDR).

Accept return and / or to serve for at least 2 years in any ASEAN countries after completion of their studies.

Fulbright Presidential Scholarship Program (PH.D. Program)

The American Indonesia Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) is pleased to announce the availability of approximately 40 new Fulbright scholarships under the aegis of the Fulbright Presidential Scholarship Program to pursue Ph.D. degree in the United States for the 2007-2008 academic year. The Fulbright Program in Indonesia promotes mutual understanding between the Republic of Indonesia and the United States of America through educational exchange and academic scholarship. Fulbright scholarships are available to Indonesian citizens with the appropriate qualifications as stipulated in the program descriptions listed below.


Preference will be given to applicants who serve or plan to serve as faculty members of state and private institutions of higher education in Indonesia and have not previously received any Fulbright scholarship.

Applicants who possess:

  1. a Bachelor and/or Master’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.00 scale).
  2. demonstrated leadership qualities.
  3. a good understanding of Indonesian and other cultures.
  4. a deep commitment to the chosen field of study.
  5. a determination to return to Indonesia upon completion of the Fulbright program and to take up academic positions in higher education upon their return.
  6. a TOEFL score (min 550).
Note: Based on recent changes in US institution requirements, the TOEFL requirement for this program has been changed. The new requirement is as follows: "Generally, the TOEFL requirement for PhD program is 575 and above. However, in certain fields a score of 550 and above will be considered."

All disciplines and fields of study are eligible for a Fulbright award. Priority fields are: Social Sciences, Religious Studies, Science and Engineering, Law, and Education—specifically, English Teaching and Higher Education Administration.

FULBRIGHT - TELKOM master’s degree program at Fulbright Presidential Scholarship Program. Preference will be given to applicants who will serve as faculty members of the state and private institutions of higher learning in Indonesia.
