Beasiswa International Master Program in Mathematics Education

University of Utrecht (UU) kerjasama dengan Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) & Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri) membuka beasiswa International Master Program on Mathematics Education tahun 2009. Konsorsium antara University of Utrecht, the Netherlands dengan Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) dan Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri) di Palembang, membuka kesempatan kepada Dosen atau Calon Tenaga Akademik Baru (CTAB), dan guru matematika yang bergelar sarjana pendidikan matematika atau sarjana matematika untuk mengikuti International Master Program in Mathematics Education.

Program ini akan dilaksanakan selama 2 tahun 2 bulan yaitu 8 bulan di Indonesia (Unesa atau Unsri), 1 tahun di Belanda (University of Utrecht), dan 6 bulan penelitian dan penulisan tesis di Indonesia. Beasiswa selama periode di Indonesia untuk Dosen atau CTAB akan diberikan oleh Ditjen Pendidikan Tinggi Depdiknas (BPPS), sedangkan periode di Belanda akan diberikan oleh StuNed.

Persyaratan untuk calon penerima beasiswa adalah:

The regular tuition fee for students from Overseas offered by MCPOP is 8,000 US$.
The scholarship covers only a percentage of the tuition fee. (This is not a full scholarship).
MIC Scholarships cover between 10%, 20% and 45% of this amount. In case an applicant obtains the highest scholarship (45%), he or she will only be required to pay 4400 US$.

Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarships 2008 - Beasiswa Inggris

De Montfort University is committed to supporting international students to benefit from study in the United Kingdom. For courses starting in September 2008, De Montfort University’s Vice-Chancellor is pleased to offer scholarships to 2,000 pounds each.

The scholarships are for 2000 pounds equivalent to a reduction of approximately 20% of the total fees, and will be paid for the entire cost of tuition for foreign students, the status of any country in the World who wish to study at one of the following types of courses at the De Montfort University, Leicester:

1. Full-time undergraduate (BA / BSc) in any of the object
2. Full-time post-Diplomas and Masters courses (PGDip / MA / MSc / MBA / LLM) in any discipline
3. Full-time MPhil / PhD research degrees in any subject

Scholarships are available for courses beginning in September 2008 only (ie between September 2008 and June 2009 for MPhil / PhD research degrees).

The award of £ 2000 will be a one-off payment and will be deducted from the full cost of tuition at the beginning of the first (or only) grade.

Students move through DMU of one of our systems or progression established collaborative partnerships can also apply for these grants, if they wish.

Only the status of foreign students are eligible.

We will award up to 16 x £ 2000 scholarships for courses above from September 2008. There will be a limited number of scholarships offered by the faculty:

* Faculty of Art and Design: up to 3 scholarships
* Faculty of Business and Law: up to 3 scholarships
* Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering: up to 5 scholarships
* Faculty of Health and Life Sciences: up to 2 scholarships
* Faculty of Humanities: up to 3 scholarships

Keep in mind that some of our courses are not included in this scholarship. To confirm whether your choice is, of course, included in the scheme, please contact reception at the Faculty of those teams that you are applying directly.

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the submission of a 500 word essay, which will be written by the applicant and evaluated DMU group representatives (each faculty will have his own team).

How to Apply

2. Complete and submit an application for a course you would like to study. 3. Once you invite a letter (or CONDITIONAL UNCONDITIONAL), and you want to apply for one of the VC International Fellowship 2008/09, you must write an essay of 500 words.

Distribution Process
After a period of August 1, 2008 a team from the DMU (one panel at the Department) will evaluate all sit essay submissions. In 2000 pounds scholarships will be deducted from the total tuition fee of successful applicants, when you arrive for training at DMU. Application Rule

* Overseas-only status of the students can apply for scholarships.
* Both self-funded and sponsored students have the right to apply for participation.
* No cash alternatives will be offered scholarships and can not be transferred to any other time, the DMU, or other designated recipient.
* Only in September 2008, entry (or between September 2008 and June 2009, for research applicants) - scholarships, could not be deferred to a statement in September 2009 or later.
* For foreign students, who are also entitled to a 5% discount for early payment of their assessed contributions in full to students, in 2000 to £ Scholarship will be deducted from the first full fee, a 5% discount from the fee reduction.
* These scholarships will not be awarded in conjunction with any other awards, such as scholarships for graduates of 2008 - students can only receive a stipend DMU, usually a greater cost.
* If an applicant is available scholarships, and then withdraw their application, or not enrolled in a course, for any reason, loss of scholarships.
* The University reserves the right to withdraw fellowship, or not to provide scholarships, at any time before they are distributed.

Probabilistic Verification and Model-Based Quality Evaluation

Research topic:
Model Based Development (MBD) has established itself as the key approach to software engineering of increasingly complex systems in automotive and aerospace domains. It has proved successful at managing complexity associated with functionality. A new approach is to use model-based techniques also for quality evaluation and predictions. Since most of quality attributes such as performance, reliability, availability, safety, and security have a probabilistic nature, probabilistic verification techniques are the best solution to perform model-based quality evaluation. The research project shall explore the possibilities of probabilistic modelling and verification techniques to reason about quality attributes early in the software development lifecycle. To get a detailed introduction into this research project please have a look at the following background literature:

Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program

Who can apply? - How to Apply - Download Application Form
The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program provides support to young researchers working in academic and research institutions from developing countries. Fellowships are awarded for a period of five to ten months and must be complete between July 2008 and June 2009. The maximum amount of the grants is US$25,000.


Who can apply?
Only professors and researchers from countries with the right to work in his doctoral thesis can apply the scholarship. Candidates must be under 45 years old, and have completed the course work or any of the examinations required for its doctoral program.

Commitment of fellow

The fellows are required to issue two reports, a report during the period of the fellowship and a final report containing the results of the investigation. The results of the fellows McNamara research work can be considered for publication by the World Bank.

Fellows are expected to return to their home countries and resume their academic or research position after completion of the fellowship. It is also expected to talk about the award of fellowships McNamara any publication relating to their doctoral research work, including their theses, and to provide the program with a copy of his thesis to graduate.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following general criteria to be eligible for a scholarship award:
* Being national and resident of a member country of the World Bank which is currently eligible to borrow;
* Candidates must be under 45 years. Candidates born before January 1, 1964 will not be considered;
* And * Must have completed at least, was awarded a Master’s degree or equivalent, at the time of application;
* Be enrolled regularly in a doctoral program related to development in their places of origin or in another country;

* Be employed full-time as a teacher or researcher at an academic institution or research in their country of origin;
* Being accepted as a scholar by a university renowned for a period of five to ten months.

Tanaman hias ini memiliki ketinggian 2 meter, panjang daunnya mencapai 120-130cm dan lebar 90 cm. Susunan daun yang bagus, kompak, dan melambai, kian memperindah penampilannya. Tanaman ini adalah Anthurium Supernova yang tongkolnya saja dihargai Rp. 2 Milliar.

Ketertarikan terhadap anthurium meningkat di pasar Tanah Air. Harganya pun menjulang tinggi menyamai harga rumah penyanyi dangdut ternama, Inul Daratista, di perumahan Pondok Indah Jakarta Selatan, yang mencapai Rp. 2 Milliar.


Fenomena ini menjadi peluang menarik bagi industri tanaman hias, mulai dari penghobi, kolektor, dan tentunya penjual. Dahulu anthurium merupakan tanaman yang tumbuh di hutan-hutan tropis yang teduh. Makin hebat indukan yang Anda miliki, maka dipastikan harga jual anakan akan jauh lebih mahal, seperti Yoe Kok Siong dari Kaliurang Garden Centre Jogjakarta, yang memiliki indukan supernova berusia 15 tahun ini. Indukan yang khusus didatangkan dari Amerika Latin ini memang diharapkan bisa memberikan turunan berkualitas untuk penghobi anthurium.

Yo, sapaan akrab Yoe Kok Siong, mengatakan saat ini memang supernova merupakan jenis anthurium termahal yang pernah ia miliki, karena jenis ini termasuk jarang dan langka ditemukan di Tanah Air. Untuk memilikinya saja, ia harus mendatangkannya dari dataran Eropa.

Supernova miliknya itu baru dalam tahap pembuahan dan belum memiliki turunan sejak datang pada satu tahun yang lalu. Memang dirinnya fokus untuk program penyesuaian iklim dulu sebelum dilakukan penyerbukan untuk bibit, sebab bila dipaksakan bisa saia keluar biji, namun kualitasnya bisa saja - tidak bagus.

Beda bila sudah tumbuh dengan baik. otomatis biji yang dihasilkan juga berkualitas, imbuh Yo.

Supernova milik Yo memang tumbuh sehat. Itu dilihat dari kondisi daun yang tumbuh segar, serta warna hijau yang cerah. Tinggi tanaman sendiri cukup mengagumkan. ia bisa tumbuh lebih dari 2 meter. Selain itu. lebar daun bisa mencapai 90 cm, dengan tulang daun yang sangat tegas menonjol.

Batang daunnya sendiri mempunyai ukuran yang besar, sehingga secara keseluruhan terlihat gagah.

Wajar bila tanaman ini konon menjadi kegemaran para raja, karena menunjukkan kesan jantan dan gagah. Supernova sendiri saat ini menjadi satu jenis jenmanii yang sedang di-'uber-uber' kolektor dan juga pebisnis, dengan harapan bisa menjualnya kembali. Apalagi jenis ini masih sangat langka di pasaran dan tentunya akan jadi koleks ekslusif apabila bisa memilikinya.

Menurut Yo, demam supernova seperti saat ini sempat dialami juga oleh jenmani cobra yang sekarang pun masih mempunyai nilai cukup tinggi. Namun sebagai ilustrasi, ternyata harga jual supernova bisa mencapai empat kali lipat dari harga cobra.

Meski biji supernova miliknya baru bisa dipasarkan tiga bulan ke depan, namun dari sekarang diakui sudah ada peminat yang memesannya. Harga jual yang diberikan untuk setiap biji pada tongkol supernova tak tanggung-tanggung, yaitu Rp 1 juta. Harga yang diberikan tentu cukup mengejutkan, namun di tangan kolektor, harga seperti itu bukan lagi jadi masalah. Harga per-biji Rp 1 juta itu, wajar bila ada salah seorang kolektor yang menawar satu tongkol supernova Rp 100 juta, Yo tidak memberikannya. Pasalnya, dari satu tongkol bisa menghasilkan 2000-3000 biji. Jadi, rupiah yang dihasilkan jelas lebih banyak bila menjual secara eceran. Bahkan kalau dikalkulasi bisa mencapai Rp 2 M per-tongkolnya.

Untuk Jenis jenmanii, terutama supernova bisa mengeluarkan tongkol untuk ber-reproduksi rata-rata usia yang dimiliki antara 7-8 tahun. Jadi untuk melakukan investasi, supernova cukup lama, sehingga akan lebih mudah untuk mendatangkan indukan dari luar negeri. Namun biaya yang dikeluarkan dipastikan cukup besar dan membutuhkan kejelian untuk melihat kualitas tanaman.

Masuk dalam dunia tanaman hias sejak 10 tahun lalu, membuat Yo cukup paham pergeseran tren tanaman hias, seperti mendatangkan supernova satu tahun yang lalu ini. Namun bagi penghobi yang ingin mendapatkan bibit dari supernova, Yoe Kok Siong harus menunggu tiga bulan lagi, sebab saat ini tongkol sedang dalam pertumbuhan biji. (wo2k)
